Every business theses days needs a website. Of course, the purpose of the site will vary from one company to the next, but regardless of whether your business is a retailer, a service provider, a one-person consulting operation, or any other type of business, it needs an effective website.
Regardless of whether you want to sell products online, you need a good website to communicate basic information to customers and potential customers, and to expand the reach of your business. A website can be a valuable marketing tool that works 24-7 to bring information to your customers.
Here we will discuss some key points that should be considered for any company website.
1. Clear description of products and/or services
Your website’s audience will be a mixture of people who know about your business, and those who have never heard of the business. These people who are new to you should be able to determine within a matter of seconds what your company is all about, otherwise they are likely to leave the site. The home page should give some type of statement or explanation of what the business does.
2. Contact information
Contact information is one of the most important aspects of a corporate site. Ideally, you’ll want some of your visitors to be interested in what you are doing and what you can offer, and this will lead to them wanting to get in touch with you. This info should be very easy for visitors to find, otherwise you could miss out on inquiries for potential business.
3. Branded
Most companies have some type of established branding, whether it be a logo, a color scheme that is used consistently, or a particular image that has been established. It’s important that the website work in harmony with the existing branding and with other types of marketing to give a consistent message.
4. Company profile
The site should include some historical information about the company, how it was started and what has been accomplished. Many corporate sites also include profiles of executives or key personnel, which can be helpful for allowing visitors to get comfortable with the company through the website.
5. News and Events
One of the best ways for a company to keep a website fresh and up-to-date is to include a company blog or at least a news section on the site. This allows the business to communicate with visitors and it gives another method of promoting what is going on with the company.
6. Design style that is consistent with corporate image
There are plenty of different styles that a website could use for it’s design, but it is important that the style chosen fits well with the company’s image and message. The wrong choice of style could contradict the message or have a negative effect on branding efforts, even if the design is high quality.
7. Optimized
A great website is no good to the company if people can’t find it. Search engine optimization is important in order to achieve high rankings for competitive search phrases. Social media marketing is also becoming more common and more effective for corporate websites.
