If you really want to turn a profit in your online marketing business, professional training and personal development will go a long way toward helping you.

If you’re like most people, including me, nothing you have done previously in your life, has adequately prepared you to launch your own internet business. Therefore, you must get training. I’ll refer to this training as professional development or personal development.

You need to learn the skills and knowledge that are required in your chosen niche. The best way to do this is to analyze your strengths and weaknesses. What are your long-term and your short-term objectives? What skills to you have to master in order to achieve your objectives? What is your preferred method to market your business, your products, and your services?

In order to have a successful marketing business, there are a few characteristics that you need to possess:

* You must be coachable.

* Do I have the strength to endure my “boot camp” training, which will demand one to two days weekly of effort, every week, to develop my business?

* You must devote a minimum of 7-10 hours each and every week to business development.

* You must have a burning desire to succeed. Many people refer to this as the “fire in the belly”

* You must be confident, self-motivated, and disciplined in pursuit of prosperity. There is no free lunch; this is something you have to earn.

Don’t let anyone con you into thinking this battle will be won easily. Your success will require commitment and hard work on your part, and the willingness to learn and grow. Impatience is not an option.

If you want to do business online, you need to have a working knowledge of several disciplines. Your business skills are important, so although you may decide to outsource many of your projects you need to be able to recognize good work when you see it. You need to be able to effectively oversee the work of your employees or virtual assistants.

So, let’s look at some of the indispensible skills you’ll want to develop:

Copywriting – This is how you get the word out there. Your potential clients needs to read this written work and immediately believe your product is exactly what they want and need so they will not hesitate to buy.

Web video marketing – Today, nothing sells like video. Nothing makes more money that correctly scripted and produced video. I can point you to the top resources online today.

Social marketing – use these web 2.0 properties to create your own financial empire. Websites like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, LinkedIn, and many others can be invaluable resources when used correctly. I can plug you into the best training available in this area.

Blogging – people have become financially secure simply by blogging. Putting up a blog and broadcasting to the universe is much easier than you think. When I first started, all I was able to do was send and receive email. Now I have several blogs and I’m building more everyday. If you follow my example, guidance and training, soon you’ll be teaching others too.

Setting up your autoresponder and email sequences – Don’t let this scare you. Again, once you do the task, you’ll see how simple it really is. I can now fly through this entire process

Marketing, Networking, Communicating- success online requires that you develop facility with all these and understand how they are interrelated. You need to learn the language of the internet. If you have the drive and the will to learn, and select the right learning resources, you can master all these.
