Make up a great plan for your business, make rules that you know apply and should be done even by you, the owner, and you’ll see that this will make you look really professional to your current clients.
Another common mistake that people make when they have their first business is untidiness.
What is the solution? Make sure you keep records of EVERYTHING you do. Even of your one time customers, they might call back 3 months from now and want a copy of the invoice again. IF you don’t do this, then you’ll be a big mess and when you get more and more customers, it will not be a pretty story.
This may seem like “duh” to most of you guys, but I am telling you this as a business woman who has had a successful business for many years.
I have grown up in this business environment, and I know that these are some of the key things to make your business a success. Do not take these little steps for granted!
One more thing you should do is create a website and make sure it’s properly optimized. You don’t want to be limited to your physical location.
Do not kid yourself. The world is huge out there… and if you can reach even 1/3 of it, you are going to make some big money.
Try to reach out to different cities, towns, states. Make your name be known. That is also key to success. If you’re name is known… well you’re sold.
Do this. Please do this for yourself, and your company. You will not regret it.
Another thing that every business should do is have business cards printed with their information on them. No matter how small your company is, every customer should leave with a business card in their hand.
These are the steps to a successful business, no matter where you are. If you do this you will be on your way to making a good name and reputation for your company.
